Bob Seger Announces 2011 Tour

65 year old Bob Seger is gearing up for his first tour in four years, the Detroit rocker confirmed this morning. Official website HERE

Jimmy Buffett had been hospitalized after falling off the stage during a concert in Sydney Australia on Wednesday night sustaining a head injury that knocked him unconscious. He is recovering and is expected to leave the hospital soon. MORE HERE

But those who attended a Saturday night's gig at Carrboro's Cat's Cradle venue got a bit of an unexpected surprise for an opening act: a full set from a reunited Archers of Loaf, their first since 1998. R.I.P.: Don Kirshner



Don Kirshner saw rock n' roll born out of R&B, and he was there as the music grew into a self-indulgent young adult. Kirshner was a music publisher and a television producer. He had a hand in launching Bobby Darin's career and he put the Ramones on network TV. Kirshner died yesterday of heart failure in Boca Raton, Florida, where he lived. He was 76 years old. MORE HERE

The Bay Area's only classical music station announced on Tuesday that it will become a non-profit, in a move full of repercussions that change the Bay Area radio landscape. Indie radio station KUSF will lose their signal. A spokesman for the University of San Francisco said KUSF will continue as an online-only station.
In our opinion KUSF was one of the last broadcast refuge of true alternative rock 'n roll in the Bay Area. MORE HERE
