A Quebec teacher was sermonized Thursday for censoring a song from legendary French singer Edith Piaf because it contains the word God.
The music teacher at St-Gabriel-Lalement school in Sorel-Tracy, northeast of Montreal, left the final line of Ms. Piaf’s classic “Hymne à l’amour” out at the year-end student performance.
The 1949 song ends with: “God reunites those who love.”
The teacher defended his decision to the school board by saying he read the line to his 10- and 11-year-old students but chose not to pursue it further because he didn’t want to get into a debate about religion. MORE HERE
