Friday night February 24, 2012 at the Apollo Theater, rock 'n' roll greats Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and others got together to celebrate the legacy of blues legend and innovator Hubert Sumlin.
The blues influenced every rock 'n' roll band and, of course, so did the blues players. Guitarist Hubert Sumlin had a signature style that was so smooth that it earned him a coveted spot with blues legend Howlin’ Wolf and influenced generations of musicians to come.
Sumlin died last year of heart failure, and like so many artists that paved the way for rock ‘n’ roll, he left this world virtually penniless. This concert, originally intended to be a birthday celebration, became a memorial event. MORE HERE & HERE
