Jerry Jeff Walker wrote “Mr. Bojangles,” introduced Jimmy Buffett to the pleasures of the Florida Keys, and was a celebrated member of the Texas “Outlaw Country” crowd along with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. Walker recently purchased a home in Napa where he and his wife/manager, Susan, plan to spend their summers.
“I always thought I’d live part of my life in Northern California,” he said last week from Austin. “I expect to play up there a lot more. We had to get out of Texas in July, August, September. It’s brutal here.”
