Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyonce took home trophies last night (July 1, 2012) at the BET Awards but an appearance by Cissy Houston stole the show.
Houston, the mother of singer Whitney Houston, took to the stage to perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in honor of her daughter, who died on February 11, 2012 in Los Angeles the night before the Grammy Awards. An introduction was followed by a gospel performance by Monica and two numbers by singer Brandy before Whitney’s brother Gary sang a brief song to introduce their mother Cissy.
