NIFE are a trio originally from Bath, Somerset in the S.West of the UK. Fronted by Nicole Fermie [NiFe] on vocals/guitar and completed by Scott Barter on bass and Howey Gill on drums, they formed in 2009 as, amazingly, a last minute stand-in at a festival.
Citing Krautrock and 60s Psychedelia as their main influences, their sound is nevertheless infused with a hefty dose of grunge sensibility. Their upcoming album, Chemicals (Out August 13, 2012) is striking for its catchy guitar hooks, distorted soundscapes, and moody, undulating vocals - rightfully raising comparisons to PJ Harvey's earlier work. Nife is reminiscent of early English groups such as Foghat and Cream - evident in a surprising cover of 'Waterfalls' written by Prince for TLC. MORE HERE
