New Patsy Cline Exhibit
The Country Music Hall of Fameand Museum pays tribute to one of country music's most iconic artists, the inimitable Patsy Cline, with Patsy Cline: Crazy for Loving You, a biographical exhibit is open for a 10-month run in the museum's East Gallery through June 10, 2013.
Compared to recent exhibits on the careers of Chet Atkins or Tammy Wynette, the collection the Hall has assembled might seem a little stark to the average fan. However, the goal of the exhibit was to focus the attention on Cline's music - rather than the dramatic personal life that has been attributed to the singer. MORE HERE

Street Fighting Stones
August 31, 1968, Decca Records released what has been called The Rolling Stones most political song, 'Street Fighting Man', written after Mick Jagger attended a March 1968 anti-war rally at London's US embassy, during which mounted police attempted to control a crowd of 25,000. The single was kept out of the US Top 40 (reaching No.48) because many radio stations refused to play it based on what were perceived as subversive lyrics.

Sean Lennon ripped fracking Tuesday August 28, 2012 in a New York Times op-ed, saying the process of extracting natural gas has been falsely portrayed as "clean." "Natural gas has been sold as clean energy," Lennon wrote. "But when the gas comes from fracturing bedrock with about five million gallons of toxic water per well, the word 'clean' takes on a disturbingly Orwellian tone. Don't be fooled."
Fracking, also known as hydraulic fracturing, uses water and chemicals to free natural gas trapped in rock deposits below the surface of the earth. Lennon says there's simply no way the process can be clean.

85-year-old bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley sings Captain Beefheart and Velvet Underground songs on the soundtrack to Lawless.
Nick Cave wrote the screenplay and worked with his Bad Seeds and Grinderman collaborator Warren Ellis to score the movie, which is based on a novel by Matthew Bondurant about a family of bootleggers living in Virginia during the Depression. Robert Plant says he’s well on his way to finishing a new album, the first with his latest group, The Sensational Space Shifters.

French rock star Johnny Hallyday’s summer vacation has been cut short after the actor was rushed to a hospital on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe with heart trouble.

All were on board in Hawthorne, California, when the group's first single Surfin' was released in October 1961.

Two Pussy Rioters Escape Russia
The two members of Pussy Riot who managed to escape arrest have fled Russia.
Three members of the feminist punk group received two-year prison sentences on August 17, 2012 after being found guilty of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred. The trio were arrested in February after they staged a flashmob style performance at Moscow's main cathedral, protesting against the Orthodox Christian church's support of president Vladimir Putin.
Pussy Riot wore their signature balaclavas during the performance and two group members were able to avoid being identified and arrested. Last week (August 21, 2012), Russian police confirmed that they were still searching for the elusive protesters.

Willie Nelson Hospitalized
Country music legend Willie Nelson was forced to cancel a fundraising gig in Denver yesterday (August 19, 2012) after he was admitted to hospital with "breathing problems".
The singer, who has released over 200 albums and has won seven Grammy Awards during his lengthy career, was scheduled to play at a charity event for the Dumb Friends League in Colorado, but had to scrap the commitment and be taken to a nearby medical facility for checks instead.
A representative for the event revealed that the 79-year-old was "suffering from breathing problems due to the high altitude and emphysema", but no further information about Nelson's condition has yet been revealed. MORE HERE

Russian Church Feigns Forgiveness For Pussy Riot
Two of the most senior clerics in the Russian Orthodox Church have said they forgive members of the punk band Pussy Riot jailed for a cathedral protest against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The three performers were sentenced to two years in a labor camp on Friday after being convicted of hooliganism driven by racial hatred, for performing a 50-second ‘punk prayer’ in Christ the Saviour Cathedral, Moscow, in February.
But Tikhon Shevkunov, head of the Moscow Sretensky Monastery and widely believed to be the Russian president’s spiritual counselor, told state television the church forgave band members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30. MORE HERE
