Lollapalooza Weekend - Chicago

Since 2005, Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell discovered that it’s easier to bring the people to the music rather than the music to the people. His vision of presenting the festival in Chicago’s Grant Park rather than touring around the country obviously worked because this year’s event, Aug. 3 to 5, is sold out.

The only problem rests for festivarians who are faced with an abundance of riches, with many instances of too many great acts performing at the same time.
The biggest news of this year’s event finds Black Sabbath playing its only North American show of 2012. Fans will hear Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler roaring through such timeless heavy metal fare as “Iron Man,” “Sweet Leaf,” “Paranoid” and “War Pigs.” MORE HERE & HERE

BUT ...BE CAREFUL

Chicago's new pot ticket ordinance takes effect.

Starting Saturday August 4, 2012, police will be able to issue $250 tickets for those caught with small amounts of marijuana.

Chicago Police Department officials say the ticketing provision will not apply inside the festival, which takes place on fenced-in grounds at Grant Park. That's because the land is Chicago Park District property. An exception to the new rules means that police will continue to arrest those caught on parkland with less than 15 grams of cannabis, the equivalent of about 25 cigarette-sized joints. MORE HERE
