Three members of female punk group Pussy Riot who derided President Vladimir Putin in a protest in Moscow's main cathedral had their spell in jail extended by six months (to January 2013) in what their lawyers called a show trial dictated by the Kremlin.
The trial began this week in Moscow of three members of the punk band Pussy Riot. They have pleaded not guilty to hooliganism and religious hatred.
If found guilty, they could serve seven years in jail.
The three women are Yekaterina Samutsevich, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina. They have been in custody for several months. MORE HERE & HERE
