Mike Peters hoax movie Vinyl has been inspired by how he took revenge on the music industry after struggling to re-enter the business.







In 2004 the Alarm and now Big Country frontman struggled to gain attention from the mainstream media, who weren’t interested in “aging rockers.” So he had Welsh outfit the Wayriders mime to his track 45RPM and called the band ‘In The Poppy Fields.’ The result was UK chart success – leading to the inevitable discovery of the truth.

The hoax has inspired the film 'Vinyl'.
