The Life and Music of Burt Bacharach
Anyone who has a heart - and a love for popular song - will surely hold the name of Burt Bacharach in high esteem.
In the Sixties, with his regular lyricist Hal David, Bacharach wrote a string of utterly distinctive and memorable hits: Walk On By, Make It Easy On Yourself, This Guy’s In Love With You, The Look Of Love, I Say A Little Prayer and many others. Just to read the titles is to hear the tunes in your mind.
It seems extraordinary that he hasn’t written an autobiography before, but Anyone Who Had A Heart: My Life and Music does appear to be the first. It has been drawn from interviews with the great man and shaped by a skilled ghost writer into something you might actually want to read. Interspersed in the text are contributions from other significant people in Bacharach’s life: ex-wives, ex-girlfriends, co-writers, friends, musicians, fans. Not infrequently, these categories overlap. MORE HERE
