Willie's 4th of July Picnic 40th Anniversary

This year has been a big round number year for iconoclastic singer-songwriter-interpreter-guitarist-bandana enthusiast-pot activist-pigtail wearer Willie Nelson.
Back in April (2013) Nelson turned 80. Last month was the 40th anniversary of “Shotgun Willie ,” a landmark album that began a particularly fertile creative period for Nelson.
Today (July 4, 2013) marks the 40th anniversary of Willie’s original July 4th picnic, the annual concert where Nelson and a group of like-minded friends perform for thousands in near-peak Texas heat.
The event moved locations and occasionally dates over the years, but here we are four decades later and it’s still going strong. Nelson will take to the Fort Worth Stockyards this week for this year’s picnic. MORE HERE & HERE

Doctors have decided it is in Ray (Price)'s best interest to not perform at The Willie Nelson 4th Of July Picnic. source
