After first seeing life as an album and an app, Björk's Biophiliais coming to us as a concert film. Björk: Biophilia Live will premiere on April 26, 2014 at the Tribeca Film Festival.

From a mind unlike any other, Biophilia Live chronicles the multidimensional concert centered on the eighth studio album of avant-garde Icelandic artist Björk. Wu Tang Clan Exposes Musicians Fight For Survival

Want to own the new album from Wu-Tang Clan? Prepare to fork over millions.

The band announced on its web site Thursday March 27, 2014 that it has pressed just one copy of its new 31-song set double set, “Once Upon A Time In Shoalin” — and it goes to the highest bidder at an auction later this year.

The notion of selling a single copy of a record flips the script on the entire history of popular music. Since the start of recorded sound, in the late 1800s, artists and record companies have adopted a populist business model, churning out as many recordings as possible and offering them at a low price so millions could enjoy the product. But file-sharing in the internet age laid waste to that, allowing fans to download music without paying, screwing the artists in the process.

Wu-Tang’s scheme exacts the ultimate revenge — in the process shunning the fans in favor of the band and its lone well-heeled patron. MORE HERE & HERE

Trouble's Lament : Tori Amos Americana

Fresh from flexing her songwriting muscles composing the songs for acclaimed musical The Light Princess, Tori Amos returns with this, the first song lifted from her fourteenth studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines .

As with all Tori's output, "Trouble's Lament" (above) is instantly and recognizably her, with those mellifluous elastic vocals riding high over lithe piano ripples...

...but here, thanks to delicately applied snare rolls and porch front guitars, the flame-haired songwriter adds a pleasing Americana-lilt.

Unrepentant Geraldinesis out on May 13, 2014 and Tori will tour as well. source

Ted Nugent Rants After Texas Cancellation

The city of Longview, Texas paid $16,250 to end contract negotiations with controversial rocker Ted Nugent, who was under consideration as the headliner for its Fourth of July (2014) celebration.

Longview’s payoff came after Nugent’s comments and song lyrics became an issue during a campaign swing with Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott.

In January (2014), Nugent called President Barack Obama a “subhuman mongrel.” The comments resurfaced when Nugent campaigned in February (2014) with Abbott, who said he did not endorse such language.

A city spokesman said the controversy surrounding Nugent was just one factor that led the city to call off negotiations. The amount paid was about half Nugent’s performance fee. MORE HERE

Nugent countered by calling the mayor of Longview "racist," "clueless" and "dishonest". "I hear from reliable sources that the mayor is a racist and was offended that my band performs mostly African-American-influenced music," Mr. Nugent, 65, said. MORE HERE

Radio #1 For Music Discovery

With the rise of services such as Spotify, Pandora, iTunes and countless others, it's clear that digital music is booming. But when it comes to music discovery, new listeners bypass these apps and tools for a class device — the radio.

According to a new report from Edison Research and Triton Digital, AM/FM radios remain the most popular method of finding new artists. Word of mouth via friends and family is the second most popular, with YouTube nabbing the third spot. MORE HERE

Jerry Jeff Jammed In The Van

Jam in the Van travels the country to find great music and they stopped off in Austin, Texas during this years (2014) SXSW Music Festival.

One of our all time favorites, Jerry Jeff Walker, paid a visit and cut a few tracks.

Here's what the Jam in the Van guys had to say about ol Jerry: "Don’t call Jerry Jeff Walker old. He may be grown, but that’s different. He’s wise and he’s been there and done that but he ain’t old. He’s still got a sparkle in his eye and a kick to his step, he’s still excited about things like jamming in a van and having a dog sit at his knee. He was a charmer no doubt, and he’s still got it."

"So I hope to all hope that when I grow up I don’t get old. I want to be like Jerry Jeff Walker." source

You said, guys!

Jerry jammed on three songs; Trashy Women (above), Mr. Bojangles and Gettin' By.

Kiss On The Cover Of The Rolling Stone

Forty years after the release of their debut album, Kiss have finally made the cover of Rolling Stone.

Marking the band's upcoming induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, the cover image is a classic 1975 photo of the band's original lineup: Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, plus Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, who were both gone from the band by the early Eighties.

The cover story, by Rolling Stone senior writer Brian Hiatt, tells the sad, hilarious and triumphant story of one of the biggest rock bands ever, taking an in-depth look at the founding members' lives and careers. MORE HERE

Bob Dylan In The 80s

Even a genius can have an off day, or year or even decade. In Bob Dylan’s case, many critics wrote off the entire 1980s.

Dylan albums from that era, like “Knocked Out Loaded” and “Shot Of Love,” inspired the most savage reviews — and earned the weakest sales — of the icon’s 50-year career.

So... What happens when a bunch of unpopular musicians cover a bunch of unpopular Dylan tunes? That's the question addressed by the new tribute album "Bob Dylan in the 80's: Volume One." MORE HERE & HERE

The album, which starts at 1980's Saved and ends with 1990's Under The Red Sky , was officially released on March 25, 2014.
