R.I.P.: Casey Kasem
Following months of legal family wrangling over his care and access to seeing him, Strictly Hardly Vinyl is sad to report that the legendary Casey Kasem, who was literally the voice of a generation as host and co-creator of the American Top 40 syndicated radio show and the voice of lovable cartoon character Shaggy, has died on Father's Day (June 15, 2014) at age 82.
Since his first broadcast from Hollywood on seven stations on July 4, 1970, to his finale on the same holiday weekend in 2009, the peppy Kasem ended each American Top 40 show with his signature line: “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.” MORE HERE, HERE & HERE
