The Basement Tapes Raw & Complete
On November 4, 2014, Bob Dylan will finally release the legendary Basement Tapes sessions in their entirety: 138 tracks on six CDs, including 30 tracks that even fanatical Dylan fans never knew existed.
Titled The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11, the collection is credited to Bob Dylan and the Band.
For those who are unfamiliar with that era in Dylan history, here’s some context: After a few years as one of pop’s most significant voices in the ’60s, Dylan took a break in July of 1966, when he was reported to have been injured in a motorcycle accident.
Dylan retreated to upstate New York, where he recorded lots of new music with Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, Garth Hudson and, later, Levon Helm, in the basement of a small house, dubbed “Big Pink” by the group, in West Saugerties. Their recordings included traditional covers as well as dozens of newly written Bob Dylan songs.
Below, stream an alternate take of the original "Odds and Ends" that appears on both the six-disc The Basement Tapes Complete and the two-disc The Basement Tapes Raw, a slimmed-down collection of highlights. MORE HERE, HERE & HERE

Weird Al Opens Emmys 2014
Weird Al Yankovic performed a hilarious medley of faux television theme songs at the Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Monday night (August 25, 2014).
Since none of the selected theme songs has lyrics, Weird Al made up his own, bemoaning the fact that "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm never won an Emmy, noting how often Kerry Washington's lips quiver on "Scandal" and ridiculing Claire Danes' "ugly crying" on "Homeland." MORE HERE

Every Randy Bachman Song Tells A Story
Randy Bachman launched the Vinyl Tap Tour: Every Song Tells a Story in 2013, designing the concert as a guided journey through his past. He sang hits from the Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and his solo career, interspersing stories along the way, adding the biographical song "Prairie Town" as a framing device.
This 2014 set -- which is available in a couple of incarnations, including one that has a DVD and one that has a CD of the concert -- generally has a lower energy level than the original recordings but the relaxed vibe is part of the appeal: it's not a race, it's a nostalgic stroll with the amiable Bachman. If you're on the same wavelength as him, it's an enjoyable way to pass the time.
VVN Music had the honor of talking to Bachman at length about the release and his amazing 50+ years in the music business. Check it out HERE
