R.I.P.: Johnny Rebb
Johnny Rebb, one of Australia's original rock and rollers, has died at the age of 79.
Rebb was born John Dellbridge on March 20, 1935.
In the 50s after seeing the movie Blackboard Jungle, Dellbridge changed his name to Johnny Rebb and put together his band The Rebels. Their first single was a cover of Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode in 1958. He then signed with Leedon Records and released Hey Sheriff/Noelene, scoring his first top 40 hit in Sydney in January 1959. In mid-1959, Pathway To Paradise/Rock On (above) became his first national hit. MORE HERE
